The major part of our training program takes place in the fall since winter is iffy, early spring is full of club events, and summer is haying season.  Club members are welcome to use the fields year round except during haying season, and encouraged to seek tracking partners for a given day at the fields via our club yahoo list, HVTC@yahoogroups.com  Prospective club members are invited to audit a session at the fields (without a dog) before joining.

The fields are open as of July 13 to all club members.

Please be careful to remove your flags and articles!

Beginner fall workshops

2010 beginners fall workshop  Click for application

Since we offer our Flag to Glove beginner seminar only once a year, at the end of April, and receive many requests from beginners in the fall, we have decided to offer two half days for beginners only on Sept 12 and Oct 10.  The purpose of these will be to provide basic tracking techniques to help people get started and learn how to proceed on their own.   The number of students will be limited, and the fee will be $50.  The workshop will start promptly at 9:00 with a full hour of group instruction and demonstrations on beginning tracking followed by field work with dogs ending at 12:00.  For the field work, participants will work in small groups with an instructor who will assist them with the tracking techniques learned in the group session.  This workshop is an intense no frills training session so be ready to learn and have fun with your dog.

These workshops will be the only opportunities for beginners until our Flag to Glove seminar April 30, 2011.

Reminders:

There are no bathroom facilities at the fields.  There is a farm market down the road that has a portapotty.

There is a leash law for all club activities.

Please email the training director if you are planning on coming to a practice.

When you leave the fields make sure that you remove everything that you brought, especially FLAGS which can really screw up mowing equipment!

Thank you
